Applications Engineering Manager manages daily activities of applications engineers that review customers' technical needs and recommend specific product/service solutions to meet these needs. Leads research and the preparation of reports on the ability and capacity of company products and competing equipment. Being an Applications Engineering Manager oversees and contributes to the design and development of equipment and systems or redesign of existing equipment to fulfill customer needs. Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Additionally, Applications Engineering Manager acts as advisor to applications engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Applications Engineering Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be an Applications Engineering Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.
