Applications Systems Analyst analyzes, designs, and troubleshoots an organization's information technology systems and processes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and effectiveness. Uses defined policies and procedures to evaluate and design new IT systems or enhance existing systems to integrate with current and future needs. Being an Applications Systems Analyst tests and evaluates the compatibility and integration of new systems with existing infrastructure, networks, and applications. Designs models and utilizes analysis and solution development methods, including process maps, flow charts, and diagrams. Additionally, Applications Systems Analyst supports management with project planning, risk assessment, and project tracking to deliver timely IT solutions within budget. May create coding and logic specifications for developers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Applications Systems Analyst work is closely managed.     Providence is seeking a IS Applications Analyst:

    Positions at this level demonstrate full use and application of standard principles, theories, and concepts related to technical discipline and provide solution to a variety of moderately complex problems. Manage small and moderately complex projects, establish and implement new or revised system requirements or procedures. Analyze user requirements, develop and implement systems for moderately complex processes. Coordinate activities of project team and act as a source for direction, training and guidance for less experienced departmental staff. Initiate course correction to stay on schedule while providing professional support for a large multi-facility healthcare organization.

    Builds and enhances effective working relationships with a wide range of internal and external contacts, vendors, and stakeholders on behalf of Providence St. Joseph Health and Services. Work collaboratively with colleagues across PSJHS in delivery of specific cross departmental projects and efforts.

    Actively support and incorporate the mission and core values into daily activities. Treat all others with respect and demonstrate excellence, justice and compassion in daily work and relationships with others.

    In this position, you will:

    • Works collaboratively with clients to determine information and data requirements. Evaluates and reports on a variety of topics, sometimes complex in nature.

    • Collaborates with customers on efficient, effective use of application resources, and create related documentation as necessary.

    • Works with internal teams to support and develop business solutions. Use professional knowledge, judgment and analysis in making decisions or recommending a course of action that meets business needs.

    • Demonstrates service excellence and positive interpersonal relationships in dealing with others, including patients/families/members, employees, managers, medical staff, volunteers, and community members, so that productivity and positive relations are maximized.

    • Applies standards, concepts and theories related to technical discipline to provide solutions to moderate to highly complex problems, while also mentoring less experienced staff in the use of these tools, techniques and analytical skills.

    • Prepares documentation and assist in documenting and defining workflows in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

    • Participates in projects and assist project leaders, taking lead on smaller projects as needed.

    • Synthesizes data, information, and knowledge to analyze multiple approaches/solutions to issues or problems.

    • Collaborates with peers to create and maintain standard team specific documentation. Instrumental in maintaining, and consistently participates in improving standards of documentation.

    • Identifies, manages, and communicates issues and risks, diplomatically escalating as appropriate through areas affected. Assist in troubleshooting root cause failures.

    • Understands and translates the business needs into system configuration and workflow validations.

    • Builds and participates in test plan development. Acts as a resource during testing and upgrades; coordinates with appropriate individuals.

    • Ability to define and meet individual goals consistent with organizational mission, quality, budget, customers, and financial results.

    • Plans and coordinates downtime, change management, maintenance, and upgrades.

    • Ability to travel as required.

    • Perform rotational on-call responsibilities.

    Job Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Competent in supporting the technical, operational and application needs of appropriate moderately complex applications or subcomponents of a highly complex application.

    • Ability to train team members in information collection and troubleshooting root cause of application failures.

    • Knowledgeable of application architecture with basic skills in technical documentation of application system installations and moderately complex system flows.

    • Ability to develop test plans for appropriate moderately to highly complex applications.

    • In-depth knowledgeable of database configurations, complex queries and elements.

    • Demonstrated ability to pro-actively identify ways to enhance or improve programs, processes and systems.

    • Proficient in Microsoft office products.

    • Ability to lead small to medium internal project work with moderate complexity and moderate risk.

    • Demonstrated ability to network collaboratively with line managers and supervisors, as well as high level individual contributors.

    • Ability to independently prioritize work assignments, meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    • Skilled communicator, both oral and written. Skilled in working collaboratively, courteously and tactfully with difficult situations and/or people to recognize issues and solve problems. Able to adapt communication style to the needs of others, especially in difficult situations.

    • Ability to respect confidentiality of all information, especially related to patients, medical staff and employees.

    • Ability to set challenging objectives and works against self-defined standards of excellence to continually improve personal performance.

    Required qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Management, Information Services. Or equivalent education/experience

    • 4 years Industry related experience.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • 3 years Healthcare IS experience.

    • Blood Bank Laboratory application experience.

    • WellSky Transfusion application experience.

    • Blood Bank clinical knowledge and expertise

    • HL7 and Data Networking experience

    • Any certifications relating to software applications, technology infrastructure, and/or clinical specializations (must be kept up to date)

    • Preferred within 90 days of hire: Epic certification (must be kept up to date)
