  • POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Aquatics Manager is in charge of keeping a safe pool environment. They also implement an instructional swimming program and are in charge of supervising multiple swimming counselors. They also will act as a lifeguard and swim instructor during the day.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Be at least 18 years old.
    • Lifeguard training from a recognized certifying body.
    • Certification as a swimming instructor or experience as a swimming instructor.
    • Has at least four (4) weeks of previous aquatics management experience.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Have some experience, working with children ages 5-12.
    • Experience managing employees.
    • Certified Pool Operator certificate.

    Responsibilities

    • Implement the Starfish Aquatics Institute swimming program, supervising swim staff giving lessons. (Camp will train Aquatics Manager in this program).
    • Supervise camp lifeguards, making sure they are meeting red cross lifeguard expectations.
    • Oversee Certified Pool Operator, making sure they are keeping the pool in a safe state.
    • Act as a lifeguard and swim instructor during the day.

    *Camp Riverlea is a summer day camp in the Durham, NC area for children ages 5-12. We are located on 90 acres of beautiful land 25 minutes from downtown Durham. We offer 10 activities, including swimming, canoeing, archery, agriculture, tennis and golf. We are are family run business who value our staff. We have multiple staff events throughout the season, including a Durham Bulls Game outing and a chef prepared staff meal.

    Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

    Pay: $16.00 - $18.50 per hour

    Expected hours: 40 per week

    Schedule:

    • Day shift
    • Monday to Friday

    Ability to Relocate:

    • Durham, NC: Relocate before starting work (Required)
