Job Summary:
As an Architectural Designer, you play a vital role in our team, contributing your skills and passion for creating mission-driven architecture. You'll work closely with our principals and staff on various internal and project tasks, including design development, BIM production, and project management. You will contribute to all phases of our projects, from research to construction documents to contract administration.
Essential Skills:
- Working understanding of architectural principles, building codes, and construction.
- Knowledge of building design and construction means, methods, and techniques.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, organizational, listening, and problem-solving skills.
- Design and graphic presentation skills (though social media and web design skills are a plus, they're not essential for this specific role).
- Knowledge of architectural history and current architectural design discourse (demonstrates a broader design perspective).
- Enthusiasm for affordable housing design and awareness of sustainable design approaches.
Production Duties:
- Collaborate with senior architects and project managers throughout all project phases (Concept to Construction Administration).
- Contribute creative ideas and solutions to design challenges, focusing on affordability, sustainability, and functionality.
- Create BIM models and construction drawings using BIM software (ArchiCAD).
- Prepare design and construction documents (including schedules and specifications) and presentations.
- Coordinate with subconsultants, contractors, and authorities to ensure project compliance.
- Maintain organized project files, documentation, and communication records.
- Conduct research on design concepts, construction methods, materials, and code/zoning requirements.
- Stay updated on industry trends in affordable housing design.
- Participate in client meetings, presentations, and discussions; record minutes, and distribute them as needed.
- Manage CA: process and respond to RFIs (Requests for Information) with supervision; process and review submittals; prepare Architect's Supplemental Instructions (ASIs) with supervision.
- Visit jobsites under supervision and assist with documenting findings.
Administrative Duties:
- Keep studio tidy.
- Keep accurate time records.
- Keep monday.com up-to-date.
- Scan, copy, print, and transmit.
- Organize, file, and purge catalogues / samples.
- Run errands.
- Help with computer hardware and software maintenance and updates.
Marketing & Business Development:
- Assist with website, blogs, social media and other marketing efforts.
- Produce presentation quality drawings and renderings.
- Represent W8 in a professional manner at public and business functions.
- Assist in the pursuit of new projects.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
