Art Director Assistant jobs in Jackson, MS

Objective: To assist in instructing students and support the librarian and art teacher.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist the librarian and art teacher with lessons utilizing a variety of methods and techniques to engage students.
• Manage student behavior appropriately and effectively perform classroom management techniques.
• Assist in maintaining an attractive, dynamic, current, and well-stocked library and with circulation of materials including shelving, labeling, and checking in/out books.
• Read stories to students.
• Use the online library database.
• Prepare instructional materials such as lesson materials, art supplies, exhibits, and equipment.
• Help create displays and hang student work in main halls; assist hanging monthly guest artist gallery exhibits; assist with grade-level set construction and installment.
• Perform supervisory duties such as lunch, recess, co-curricular, and carpool duties.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional school environment. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 20 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and hear. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms above the head and reach forward. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type: This is a full-time position with teaching responsibilities from August May. As with any independent school, faculty should be ready to chaperone class trips, perform typical day-to-day duties such as lunch and carpool duties, and engage fully in all school events that develop the student.

• High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• A minimum of two years of experience working with students preferred.
• Experience with Responsive Classroom preferred.
• Represent the school in the larger community in a positive manner that reflects the values of the school.
• Ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, administrators, and parents/guardians.
• Professional written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Google Suite required.
