Cape Henry seeks an experienced and dynamic leader as its next Associate Athletic Director, starting in the summer of 2024. The successful candidate will be an experienced, relational leader devoted to the School’s mission and program. The Associate Athletic Director will work collaboratively with the Head Athletic Director in oversight of all interscholastic athletics from grades 6-12. The next Associate Athletic Director will have…

• Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine desire to build relationships with students, coaches, and parents.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and supervise coaches in grades 6-12 athletic program.
• Vision and ideas to assist in determining the direction of the athletic department and its programming.
• Belief in the power of sports and teams to teach character and leadership to young people.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with coaches, parents, and student athletes.
• Experience in budgeting and financial management to support the Director of Athletics in allocating resources across programs.
• Basic knowledge of sports medicine to ensure student-athlete safety and best training practices.
• Enthusiasm for utilizing social media and various technology programs to promote and grow Cape Henry’s athletic brand and student athlete exposure.

The Associate Athletic Director will…

• Work with the athletic director on daily operations and mission driven goals.
• Collaborate with the Facilities Department on athletic field and facility maintenance requests to ensure safety and enhancement.
• Assist the athletic department with supervising varsity, junior varsity, and middle school athletics.
• Guide the athletic department with the implementation of Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools and VISAA guidelines and regulations.
• Schedule, supervise, and assist with game day management responsibilities.
• Provide and lead coaching education professional development opportunities.
• Develop and implement student athlete leadership programs.
• Assist with the hiring, evaluating and supervision of all athletic department personnel.
• Model, communicate, and inspire student-athletes and coaches to follow the CHC athletic philosophy as it pertains to participation, competition, and sportsmanship.

• Assume the Athletic Director's role and responsibilities in the absence of the Athletic Director.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in physical education, sports management, or health sciences field.
• First Aid, CPR, and AED Certifications.
• Coaching or experience working in interscholastic athletics.
