Assistant Campus Recreation Director administers and promotes all non-varsity, club (intramural) sports and wellness program. Plans and organizes campus-wide recreational programs for all students, faculty, and staff. Being an Assistant Campus Recreation Director may supervise student staff. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Assistant Campus Recreation Director typically reports to Campus Recreation Director. The Assistant Campus Recreation Director supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes. Under supervision of Recreation Supervisor, supervises, plans, organizes and conducts recreation programs at a community site for youngsters ages 6-14.
Assumes the responsibility for issuance and use of recreation equipment and supplies; conducts safety and maintenance inspections of buildings and facilities; prepares site for playground and special programs; leads, plans and organizes special contests, games, music, arts and crafts, sports, drama and dance activities; maintains paperwork and makes oral and written reports as required; assists in the supervision of community-wide special events as well as attending weekly meetings.
Recreation Leaders will work approximately two to three hours a day, three days per week, leading children in various recreational activities. Additional hours may be required for planning meetings, special programs, etc.
Any combination of training, education and experience which would provide the required knowledges and abilities. Spanish speaking skills are desirable. Ability to plan recreational programs for and work effectively with youths aged 6-14 years is highly desirable.
Knowledge of: Basic arithmetic; basic reading skills; first aid principles and practices; recreation program principles and procedures; ood organizational skills; and basic communication skills.
Ability to: Make mathematical calculations; maintain accurate records; make sound decisions based on logical reasoning; and establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Standard First Aid Certificate and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate are desirable.
LICENSE: Possession of a Class C California Driver's License is required. Class B California Driver's License is desirable.
