Job Description: Controller

Hours: Full Time, M-F 8 am-5 pm

Location: Asheville, NC

Pay: $30-$35 an hour

At Coffee Library, we roast our own coffee beans and sell them wholesale to our customers via our eCommerce website. We are looking to add an experienced Controller to our team that can help us with the management of our day-to-day financials and the creation of reports that help lead us toward our goals.

Our Controller will play a vital role at Coffee Library ensuring that our data is accurate, our numbers are correct, and our financial system is always in order. The Controller will also be a part of our leadership team by supporting the management team with their objectives, by recording financial transactions for sales, purchasing, and inventory in our team environment. Our perfect candidate is someone that very adverse in management/financial reporting, is systems-savvy, and thrives in a startup environment.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Maintain records of financial transactions by reviewing & categorizing transactions; completing reconciliations for credit cards, bank feeds, and loan accounts; preparing journal entries from the e-commerce platform
• Record financial transactions through multiple sources including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank activity, credit cards, and payroll
• Keeping bills paid and up to date
• Maintain and balance the general ledger (currently Quickbooks Online) in an accurate, complete, and up-to-date manner
• Keeping our accounting & e-commerce systems up-to-date and accurate
• Communicate with clients and team to summarize month-end closing to ensure books are completed in a timely manner
• Manage complex bookkeeping problems, such as financial statements errors, chart of accounts cleanup, sales tax issues, unsolved A/P and A/R, payroll issues, merchant services, and 3rd party questions
• Assemble information, upon request, to auditors/owners/investors- statements, budgets, forecasts, management, and financial reports
• Provide support to management as requested

Qualifications:

• You must have experience with QuickBooks and Excel.
• Prior experience with Shopify is a huge bonus!
• Experience with creating day-to-day bookkeeping, budgets, and financial reports
• Must be familiar with North Carolina laws and reporting requirements
• Must have a completed bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Must live local to Asheville, NC, and have reliable transportation

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
