Regional West Health Services is an independent, not-for-profit integrated health care delivery system based in Scottsbluff, Nebraska that is seeking a leader to join our team as Controller.
Regional West Health Services includes Regional West Medical Center, a 188-bed regional referral center and the only Level II Trauma Center in Nebraska west of Kearney, and other hospitals and health system affiliates, including a residential care facility and an insurance company. As the region’s only tertiary referral medical center, Regional West offers care that spans more than 32 medical specialties provided by over 28 physician clinics. Regional West provides comprehensive and innovative health care services for the people of western Nebraska and the neighboring states of Colorado, South Dakota, and Wyoming.
To serve this mission, you will direct and coordinate the organization's financial planning and accounting practices as well as its relationship with lending institutions, the Board of Directors, the auditors, and the financial community.
As the RWHS Controller you will:
- Evaluate and analyze needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendations.
- Appraise the organization's financial position and issue periodic financial and operating reports to various levels of management in order to link planning, recording and functioning into an effective control process.
- Plan, coordinate and prepare work papers and account reconciliations for the year-end audits by public accounting firms and third-party auditors. Oversee and direct the preparation and issuance of the facility's annual audit.
- Direct and analyze studies of general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the organization's policies and operations.
- Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements. Develop or recommend changes as needed to RWHS organizational process and/or policies.
- Handle all aspects of employee insurance, benefits, and casualty programs, including monitoring changes in health insurance regulations and creating budgets for benefits and worker's compensation and payroll.
- Responsible for RWHS organizational funds, securities, and assets, including but not limited to: long- and short-term cash forecasting, investments, reviewing capital expenditure requests, recommendations for cost reduction.
- Determine the cost of each service and recommend approximate rates to the CEO after arranging with various departments to have the necessary financial and statistical data reported and accumulated.
- Develop and maintain relationships with banking, insurance, and external accounting personnel to facilitate financial activities.
You may be a great fit if you have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required, Master’s in Business Administration, or Health Care Administration preferred.
- CPA or HFMA preferred.
- Five years related experience.
