    ABOUT THIS POSITION

    Summary:
    The Executive Director of Alumni Engagement and Career Services develops programs that support the mission of the university and enhances the goals of the CMU Foundation and CMU. Duties include strategic planning, fiscal management and program development to generate resources for all university alumni and provides strategic leadership for development, implementing, and evaluating recruiting systems, programs and events to connect employers with students, faculty and alumni. Serves as executive director of the CMU Alumni Association.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

    Oversees, and provides strategic leadership on all Alumni Association and Career Services finances, contracts, programs, activities and communications. 

    Establishes and implements short and long-term organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness and effects changes required for improvement. 

    Establishes and maintains an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization’s goals and objectives; oversees recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation of staff. 

    Serves as a university liaison to the external business community stakeholders and to alumni constituents, both regionally and nationally. Works with Director of Career Services to create programming to connect university students and graduates with internships and job opportunities with alumni across the nation.

    Plans and develops strategies and programs for generating revenue for the Alumni Association and Career Services while also providing needed career and networking resources for alumni. Establishes and directs alumni programs such as mentorship and/or employer liaison programs. 

    Oversees communication to all university alumni; oversees and coordinates the development and publication of written material for alumni. 

    Ensures and sets policy for proper management of alumni records, databases, and reporting. 

    Oversees and manages CMU Foundation special event liquor license. 

    Performs other duties as assigned and may need to work some evenings and weekends.

    Minimum Qualifications Required:
    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university 
    Ten years of progressive experience in a related field based on the duties specified.
    Must possess strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently as well as be a team player.
    Five years supervisory experience.
    Strong computer skills. Proficient with MS Office.
    Strong demonstrated organizational skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Demonstrates strong community engagement.
    Minimum of five years of higher education experience in academic services.
    Experience giving presentations.  
    Event planning experience.
