    As part of the Division of University Advancement and External Affairs, The Twardowski Career Development Center serves as the bridge connecting students and alumni to the professional world, introducing them to who they can become.
     
    Reporting to the Director of the Twardowski Career Development Center, the Assistant Director is responsible for providing programs and services in concert with the mission and values of the university and division, which serve to enrich and enhance the educational experiences of all students as they plan their careers and enter the job market or engage in continuing education. The Assistant Director provides services for alumni and other special interest groups to address their specific needs; supervises the student Career Ambassador program which provides career counseling, resume/cover letter review, and presentations on campus; and serves as liaison to plan and deliver workshops, programs, career assignments, and events for the College of Health Sciences.  This position requires occasional travel as well as some evening and weekend work.
     
    The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience in career counseling in a higher education setting; excellent presentation, written communication, organization, and relationship management skills; and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
     
    Responsibilities include:

    • Maintain a regular appointment and drop-in schedule with students and alumni to provide individual and group career services
    • Support career and professional development including major and career exploration, internship and job searches, graduate school, and interview skills
    • Develop, schedule, and facilitate presentations on career and professional development topics
    • Review resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, essays, and other application materials in person and online
    • Interpret career interest assessments
    • Conduct mock interviews
    • Assist students in the use of technology associated with the career exploration process
    • Process referrals for students through Navigate 
    • Serve as liaison to plan and deliver workshops, programs, career assignments, and events for the College of Health Sciences (CHS)
    • Coordinate the TCDC exploratory and first year initiatives including scheduling First Year Experience engagements with faculty 
    • Plan and execute the Career Chats program
    • Serve as liaison to campus partners including The Veterans Center, Fraternity and Sorority Life, and Student Leadership and Involvement to plan and deliver workshops and programs
    • Communicate events and services to campus partners to promote TCDC programming and resources
    • Support the Graduate Assistant to recruit, onboard, train, and provide ongoing supervision and evaluation of student Career Ambassadors 
    • Support ongoing evaluation and assessment of programs and services
    • Support monthly and annual reporting 
    • Maintain active membership in professional organizations and stay up to date on trends in career counseling, student needs, and the job market
    • Serve on CHS and University committees 
    • Perform other related duties as assigned
    • Bachelor’s degree in higher education, counseling or a closely related field
    • Two years of experience in a higher education, career development, or related setting
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
    • Master’s degree in higher education, counseling, or a related field
    • Experiencing supervising student staff 
    • Proficiency with Navigate, Handshake, Big Interview, Interstride , PeopleGrove, FOCUS 2 and/or other career software platforms 
    • Career counseling experience
