  • Under the general direction of the Vice President for Information Technology, the Applications Director provides leadership, vision, and direction to the Application Services team within the Department of Information Technology. This dynamic leader must be an excellent communicator, an expert project manager, and be customer and team focused. The Applications Director manages and supervises assigned technical and support staff; works closely with stakeholders from across the enterprise to define and implement technical enhancements; and identifies opportunities to leverage technology to improve patient outcomes, business operations, and staff satisfaction. 

    Responsibilities

    • Evaluate, direct installation\configuration and deployment of new applications, system software, and or enhancements/upgrades to existing applications throughout the organization, using prescribed change management protocols as appropriate
    • Recommend/takes action to direct the analysis of system issues and provide solutions; develop strategy for continuous improvement of system wide applications including but not limited to ERP and EMRs
    • Ensure current and future-state applications meet business, end-user, and regulatory requirements.
    • Review and analyze existing applications effectiveness and efficiency and develop strategies to mitigate defects and inefficiencies
    • Research and make recommendations on software products and services in support of business needs
    • Collect and collate specific project deliverables such as requirements, workflows, system specifications, interface designs, test plans, etc.
    • Ensure all project deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and with the required level of quality, managing project risks and developing appropriate mitigation strategies as needed; prepare status reports and other project communications as needed
    • Direct system project requests and design process improvement by conferring with users regarding system enhancements and designing specifications for these requests.
    • Negotiate contracts with software and service providers
    • Maintain and update documentation to reflect changes associated with new systems releases
    • Track all development & testing of new software for capital expense reporting on all projects
    • Manage the enhancement request process and status reporting for assigned application portfolio
    • Function as a liaison between the user departments, project team, management, and external customers/vendors to ensure adequate understanding of new processes and system enhancements by all parties and resolve any product or system release issues 
    • Ensure training and documentation for end users is conducted
    • Ensure IAM (Identity Access Management) requirements and policies are followed 
    • Attend local, regional and national user group meetings as requested by management
    • Develop and track budget and completion requirements for related projects and initiatives; manage variances appropriately

    Qualifications     

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Technical or Clinical discipline required; Masters preferred
    • IT application experience in healthcare required.
    • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience
    • Solid project management skills with Project Management Professional Certification preferred 
    • Proficiency in clinical workflow analysis and business process reengineering across departments and systems
    • Familiarity with ERP and other non-clinical systems
    • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with a high degree of self-motivation and ability to work independently 
    • Strong process orientation, problem solving & troubleshooting skills
    • Proven ability to successfully manage within complex situations with limited direction
    • Excellent communication and relationship management skills with the ability to work successfully across all levels of the organization

    Location: Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital, 3599 University Blvd South, Jacksonville, FL 32216

    Hours: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week
