Being an Assistant Pastry Chef oversees the activities of the pastry staff in the absence of the Executive Pastry Chef. Requires 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Additionally, Assistant Pastry Chef requires an understanding of federal, state, and local food sanitation regulations. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to an Executive Pastry Chef. The Assistant Pastry Chef supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be an Assistant Pastry Chef typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.
