Responsible for the production and presentation of pastries and other baked goods. Being an Assistant Pastry Chef oversees the activities of the pastry staff in the absence of the Executive Pastry Chef. Requires 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Additionally, Assistant Pastry Chef requires an understanding of federal, state, and local food sanitation regulations. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to an Executive Pastry Chef. The Assistant Pastry Chef supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be an Assistant Pastry Chef typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.
