Assistant Treasurer assists in the direction and management of an organization's treasury activities. Oversees and directs all aspects of daily treasury activities. Being an Assistant Treasurer ensures financial transactions, policies, and procedures fulfill the organization's objectives, needs, and regulatory body requirements. Assists with the corporate banking, credit, and investment functions. Additionally, Assistant Treasurer requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Assistant Treasurer manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Principal Duties
· Serve as the custodian of the city treasury, ensuring compliance with legal requirements outlined in Utah Code, Title 10.
· Manage accounts receivable processes, efficiently handling both physical and electronic payments and collections.
· Oversee banking operations, including bank transfers, deposits, comprehensive reporting, tracking returned payments, and investment strategies.
· Handle accounts payable responsibilities, including the crucial task of signing checks and executing wires and ACH transactions with precision.
· Contribute to finance operations by tracking Impact fees, maintaining fee schedules, and offering valuable support for the annual budget document and audit report.
· Provide leadership by supervising Utility Billing Clerks, delegating tasks, delivering comprehensive training, and conducting performance evaluations to ensure team efficiency and effectiveness.
Ideal Candidate
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration or a closely related field and three to five years of progressively responsible accounting experience, preferably in a governmental agency, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
· Master’s degree, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) preferred.
