Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - Chemistry provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Chemistry typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks.     Required Qualifications
    : Indiana Teaching License - REPA Chemistry 5-12 or Physical Science 5-12 - AP certification or willing to get certified


    Primary Responsibilities
    :

    • Develop curriculum to meet developmental goals and instructional activities
    • Use procedures to post syllabus, projects/lessons, and grades to the online student information system accessible to students, parents, and the community
    • Maintain a classroom environment consistent with established codes of conduct and conducive to positive learning
    • Exercise open and respectful communication with families, co-workers, supervisors, and other school staff
    • Measure progress and accomplishments of students towards their academic achievements on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required
    • Communicate electronically with students, parents, and other staff members concerning student academic progress, attendance, and behavior
    • Attend conferences and workshops in order to further advance professional development
    • Work cooperatively with other personnel to improve instructional programs and the overall operation of the school
    • Provide a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all students in the classroom and on the school campus
    • Administer frequent formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress. Analyze data to make instructional adjustments to improve student learning.
    • Participate in faculty and professional development throughout the school year.
    • Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.
    • Grade papers and maintain grade books.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    CJSHS is a grade 6-12 building with an enrollment of 633 students, and 33 teachers. Our school is a part of the Smith-Green Community School corporation located in both Whitley and Noble counties and within the city limits of Churubusco, Indiana. CJSHS is proud of the variety of course offerings and extracurricular activities we are able to offer our students in spite of our smaller size. Our school is proud of our over 90% graduation rate and our rate of completion for graduation pathways.

    Churubusco is a rural town in northeast Indiana nestled in the corner of Whitley County about 15 minutes from the city of Fort Wayne. In November 1847 a post office was approved by the federal government and the Town of Churubusco, Indiana establishing the town.

    As of 2010 the population was estimated at 1,796 with a total 706 households.
