    Position Description
    The Harry W. Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology at The University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for the full-time position of Associate Professor of Instruction in Professional and Technical Communication. Professional and Technical Communication is an upper-division core communication requirement for all students pursuing bachelor's degrees in the Engineering and Computer Science program. Responsibilities include teaching 4 Communication courses (including Professional and Technical Communication) per semester and actively contributing to student activities that enhance the program.
    The appointment commences for the fall 2024 semester.
    Qualifications
    Minimum Education and Experience: Successful candidates must have a doctoral degree (or MA with equivalent work experience) in communication (e.g., Communication Studies, Professional/Technical Communication, Rhetoric/Composition) and appropriate prior teaching experience; those with ABD status will be considered at the application/interviewing stage. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. We are seeking candidates able to deliver high quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.
    Preferred Education and Experience: Preference will be given to candidates whose teaching applies traditional communication theories to professional and/or technical contexts and who hold a PhD.

    • Teach eight (8) classes each academic year.
