Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology at The University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for the full-time position of Associate Professor of Instruction in Professional and Technical Communication. Professional and Technical Communication is an upper-division core communication requirement for all students pursuing bachelor's degrees in the Engineering and Computer Science program. Responsibilities include teaching 4 Communication courses (including Professional and Technical Communication) per semester and actively contributing to student activities that enhance the program.The appointment commences for the fall 2024 semester.QualificationsMinimum Education and Experience: Successful candidates must have a doctoral degree (or MA with equivalent work experience) in communication (e.g., Communication Studies, Professional/Technical Communication, Rhetoric/Composition) and appropriate prior teaching experience; those with ABD status will be considered at the application/interviewing stage. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. We are seeking candidates able to deliver high quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.Preferred Education and Experience: Preference will be given to candidates whose teaching applies traditional communication theories to professional and/or technical contexts and who hold a PhD.The Communication Studies ProgramThe Communication Studies Program at the University of Texas Dallas offers a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary collaboration with both faculty and students across the school.
