    POSITION SUMMARYUnder the general direction of the Associate Director of Operations and Finance, the Coordinator of Communication and Outreach (CCO) is responsible for marketing and communication functions for Student Housing and Residential Life and the student housing program. They include, but are not limited to, project management for annual outreach efforts related to recruitment and retention of residential students, website and content management, graphic design and publication, social media outreach, video production, and public speaking.The Coordinator of Communication and Outreach will work closely with the Associate Director for Operations and Finance, as well as other Student Housing and Residential Life (SHRL) staff, to actively promote the on-campus living experience and manage outreach processes and communication for current and future residents. The CCO will display an active commitment to engaging students, parents/supporters, and university partners via numerous mediums as well as developing procedural best practices and sharing the SHRL story through data. The engagement expectation will be through creating digital and print materials, managing the department's various social media channels, presentations to different audiences, the production of live web/social media shows and other strategic campaigns. Additionally, the incumbent should have a working understanding of research and data analytics in order to support marketing and communications decisions. The incumbent will need to have a highly collaborative attitude and strong communication skills, exercise critical thinking, and be an innovator in their areas of responsibility. Some evenings and weekend work will be required.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include. but are not limited to. the following:

    Marketing: This position is responsible for the coordination of SHRL departmental brand identity, outreach campaigns, themes, and promotional public displays and imagery. This includes the responsibility for conception and deployment of large-scale departmental outreach campaigns to recruit applicants for on-campus housing, housing renewal, and assistance with telling the department's story through innovative marketing of assessment data and other projects as assigned.
    • Designs themes for all outreach campaigns and manages the dissemination of campaign information to various target audiences/groups..
    • Manages the SHRL public imagery in the form of banners, posters, formal framed artwork, electronic displays etc., and all marketing materials posted publicly throughout campus.
    • Develops outreach and advertising strategies for housing recruitment and retention, as well as resident engagement, in first-year and sophomore housing, apartments, and Living Learning Programs (LLPs).
    • Leads creation of videos and graphics to be utilized for the online housing management system, StarRez.
    • Assists with campus outreach efforts, such as Admissions new student applicant mailings, to support housing recruitment and retention goals.



    Communication and Digital Media: This position will lead communication and digital media efforts for SHRL with special attention to emerging trends that effectively engage our target audiences.Serve as the department web content manager.
    • Manages all social media streams for prospective and continuing students which includes the management of all information and marketing efforts to students and their supporters, including attending programs to incorporate digital marketing collateral to be used in social media marketing.
    • Develops, writes and/or edits a variety of written material (printed or digital) ensuring that all information accurately reflects the outreach direction, emphasis and goals of SHRL.
    • Creates materials and publications for presentations and panels.
    • Identifies the needs and interests of various target groups (prospective students, supporters/parents, faculty, staff, current on-campus residents, off-campus students) and prepare information and materials accordingly.
    • Develops and maintains a list of off-campus housing options for students on the SHRL website.
    Outreach: This position will coordinate all staffing and department presence at campus wide outreach activities and programs.
    • Participates in University's outreach programs, which include, but are not limited to, campus-wide panels, orientations, and coordination of various Housing events/tours throughout the year.
    • Attends campus-wide outreach event planning meetings/committees/groups.
    • Creates, interprets, revises, and/or updates materials for outreach purposes, including determining strategic placement and making the presentation of information (printed or digital) attractive and appealing.
    • In collaboration with SHRL staff, develops and coordinates various outreach and programming strategies and activities to effectively communicate SHRL procedures, programs, and activities.
    • Coordinates meetings and events ensuring that relevant, timely, and correct information is made available/presented to students, supporters, faculty, staff, and the general public under appropriate guidelines.
    • Attends daytime and after-business hours campus-wide programs and meetings to promote SHRL, Residence Hall Association (RHA), and LLPs.
    • Develops community relations and contacts to outside businesses (e.g. property management companies, owners of large apartment complexes, and realtors).
    • Serves as the primary contact for any university special guest campus housing tour. Special tour requests or special guests to campus are either personally toured by this position or organized by this position in conjunction with other professional staff within the department.
    • This position is one of the primary interviewees or live assistants to the public in the absence of the Director of SHRL.

    Administrative:
    • Assists with providing resident statistical data.
    • Ensures that outreach and programming projects stay within the budget guidelines of the department.
    • Supports Student Affairs outreach and communications efforts as needed.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

Must demonstrate effective oral communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with staff inside and outside of the department. Basic knowledge and understanding of emerging marketing trends and related techniques. Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and events simultaneously, including setting priorities and completing deliverables by deadlines.. Proven ability to use social media to share information and engage with target audience. Advanced computer proficiency, including word processing, spreadsheets and marketing and publishing software. Technical ability in audio, visual, and cinematography equipment including accompanying software. Ability to gather, build and analyze data from multiple sources to meet necessary reporting needs.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    Education and Experience:Bachelors degree AND two or more years of progressively increasing general public/media relations, or related field, responsibilities which have involved supporting, monitoring, and coordinating website development, social media, print media, digital marketing and video work through a system of internal procedures to ensure the efficient operation of an organization. Significant outreach and communication work as an undergraduate can count as one year of experience. Additional experience, which has demonstrated the requisite skills/abilities, may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis.
