Assoc. Professor - Drama teaches courses in the discipline area of drama. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - Drama provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Drama typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks.     Drama Kids is a Creative Drama & Literacy Enrichment Program where kids “Act Up” with a purpose! We work with our students’ imagination and creativity to develop literacy skills, public speaking, leadership/teamwork, and acting abilities while building their confidence and essential life skills, all learned in a fun and professional atmosphere.

    As a member of our awesome team of teachers, you will:

    • Teach one hour-long classes per week in the afternoon and early evening, arriving 15 minutes prior to class. Depending on your availability, we can offer 2-4 classes a week.
    • Teach and mentor students from 5 to 17 years of age
    • Follow detailed world-renowned lesson plans on speech, movement & acting
    • Maintain a fun, safe, respectful classroom
    • Remain with kids until they have all been picked up by parents
    • Commit to a full school year (August - May)
    • Direct and help students deliver an end of the year showcase presentation
    • Build relationships with parents and students
    • Foster relationships with local schools and venue staff
    • Attend paid training and monthly staff curriculum meetings
    • Have potential to do additional marketing work/projects for our location

    Qualifications:

    • Have a heart for kids!
    • Are looking for a very part-time and fun opportunity
    • Have teaching experience and excellent classroom management skills
    • Have excellent communication and organizational skills
    • Have HIGH ENERGY and flexibility
    • Have afternoons and early evenings available (Mon - Thur from 1:30pm-6:00pm)
    • Have reliable transportation
    • Are willing to commute to various schools and locations
    • Are willing and able to commit for full one school year (August - May)
    • Theatre experience is a plus
    • Level 2 background check required. All teachers must obtain their Jessica Lunsford Badges.
