    Olympic College is recruiting for a full-time tenure-track faculty to join the faculty and staff team in the Social Sciences & Humanities Division. The position will be full-time tenure-track in History. We are seeking applicants that can teach a variety of history course offerings, including U.S. History 1 and 2, World Civilizations I, II, and III, Native American History, Pacific Northwest History, with the opportunity to develop other courses that align with areas of expertise.

    Applicants with community college teaching experience and/or experience teaching introductory courses in U.S.and world history are especially encouraged to apply.

    Essential Functions

    • Teach classes in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats, primarily on the Bremerton campus, but also at the Poulsbo and Shelton campuses when requested;
    • Provide quality teaching, including related preparation, grading, and record keeping; class syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the division office as requested; academic advising and systematic assessment of student learning are required.Contribute to development of History curriculum and student learning outcomes.
    • Effectively communicate with students, faculty, staff and administrators;Maintain physical office hours for student consultation; attend faculty, department and division meetings; serve on college committees and participate in college governance.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications


    • Master's degree in History or closely related field from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 semester or 24 quarter credits of graduate History coursework.
    • Experience teaching history at the college level.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and communicate historical concepts and engage students in critical thinking.
    Desired Qualifications
    • Doctoral Degree in History, related social science, or interdisciplinary field preferred;
    • Historical expertise and ability to teach and develop curriculum in one or more of the following areas: African American History, Latinx American History, Native American History, Asian American History, LGBTQI History, and World History.

    Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment.

    This is a full-time faculty position contracted on an annual basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual contract days remaining in the academic year. The salary listed is a range based on per month for the quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments may be a part of the instructional load.
