Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Industrial Engineering typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks.     CobbFendley is seeking a Project Engineer in Houston, Fort Bend or Pearland, TX office.

     

    The Project Engineer will be involved with designing water distribution systems and facilities, wastewater collection systems and facilities, roadway/drainage projects, city engineer services, plan and plat reviews, and other projects typical of a municipal engineering practice. The Project Engineer must have experience working with plan and profile construction drawings associated with municipal infrastructure improvement projects.
     
     
    The successful candidate’s most important qualifications include:

    • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university required.
    • 5 -10 years of civil engineering experience.
    • P.E. license required.
    • Experience directly for a Municipality preferred (vs experience with Land / Site Development)
    • Knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, Bluebeam software.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • In depth knowledge of civil engineering design
    • Motivated to learn in a dynamic environment with short deadlines.
    • Budgeting, Invoicing, Scheduling Projects
    • Prepare Proposals, Level of Efforts, Coordinate with Subs (geotechnical, survey, environmental, electrical, etc.) in a timely manner.
    • Report writing and creation of engineering exhibits


    Essential Functions:

    • Support CobbFendley Leads and Clients with analysis, engineering design, plans and specifications, and construction administration for various projects.
    • Represent CobbFendley at client meetings and performing client coordination.
    • Apply technical expertise and be able to work independently and with a project team on conventional and unconventional projects.
    • Produce construction plan sets for a municipality and governmental clients.
    • Perform independent research and adapt to changing priorities.
    • Work in a collaborative team environment and perform self QA/QC of work.
    • Able to communicate ideas and tasks effectively. 
    • Adhere to CobbFendley’s safety standards to uphold a safe and efficient environment.
    • Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity.
    • Motivation to work in a dynamic environment with strict deadlines.

    Physical Requirements: 

    Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time. 

    Mobility within the office including movement between floors and workstations. 

    Repeated motions (e.g., typing, reaching, bending, lifting, and carrying). 

    Communication with other employees and clients.
     
    Environmental Factors: 
    Most work is performed in a professional office environment. Some trips to client offices and job sites for observations will be required. 

    Job site observations factors could include walking and climbing on uneven surfaces, exposure to outdoor environments and extreme weather (heat and freezing temperatures), noise exposure, driving for extended periods of time, exposure to allergens (e.g., pollen, dust, cedar, sumac, poison ivy), exposure to construction and traffic work zones, possible hand and power tool use, and extended periods of Personal Protective Equipment use. 

    Extended use of electronic devices (e.g., computers, printers, copiers, scanners, plotters, and telephones).

    Use of cutting tools and equipment (e.g., plotting equipment, rotary paper cutter).


     
     
    EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

    • This is a full-time position. Office work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM CST.
