The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Utah ( https://mech.utah.edu/ ) invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position with research and teaching focus in the area of additive manufacturing, with an anticipated start date in Fall 2024. While all areas of additive manufacturing across all length scales will be considered, preference will be given to metal additive manufacturing;computational modeling of additive manufacturing processes; design optimization and process planning for additive manufacturing; AI and digital twin representations of additive manufacturing processes; development of sustainable materials and processes; and other new and challenging areas of additive manufacturing. Exceptional candidates will be considered at the level of associate or full professor.
Candidates must have a demonstrated track record of high-quality research as evidenced by scholarly publications and must exhibit strong potential (junior faculty) or an established record (senior faculty) of securing extramural funding. Successful candidates will be expected to actively contribute to the Departments growing research presence in additive manufacturing and will be able to leverage a variety of additive manufacturing technologies, including a state-of-the-art powder bed fusion machine. Applicants are expected to have an earned Ph.D. or Sc.D. in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.

· Provide high-quality, effective teaching of core courses in Mechanical Engineering, including manufacturing-related courses.
