    Job Summary: Coordinate the Medical Staff organization and serve as an essential link between senior management and the medical staff. Implement and maintain standards applicable to the Medical Staff Organization relating to credentialing, quality and administrative functions. Oversee physician and allied health credentialing and recredentialing, meeting management, flow of information from medical staff committees through the Medical Staff Leadership Council, Clinical Leadership Committee and Governing Board. Assist with JCAHO Survey preparation for the medical staff/leadership function; work closely with medical staff leaders, hospital administration with regard to medical staff and bylaw issues.
    Responsibilities:
    • Assists in the planning, organizing, and directing of a comprehensive, specialized program to assure continued accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO). Manage and oversee all aspects of credentialing, including appointment, reappointment, privileging and provisional status, to ensure accurate and timely credentialing for prospective and active members of the medical staff. This includes collecting and analyzing information, preparing files for approval process, and ensuring that credentialing and privileging files are kept accurate and current
    • Maintains working knowledge and continuously evaluates and improves medical staff administrative procedures to ensure compliance with State and Federal requirements and JCAHO standards. Interprets, explains, and follows all regulatory guidelines, including Medical Staff Bylaws, Medical Staff Rules and Regulations Federal and State laws and regulations.
    • Originates, collects and maintains complete medical staff files.
    • Act as liaison between KCI/KCC administration, the Medical Staff leadership and members as well as all hospital, nursing and administrative departments, related health care agencies by answering questions, exchanging and gathering information and resolving administrative issues.
    • Maintains open communication with the Medical Staff, Administration, Hospital Departments, and related health agencies. Identifies and works to resolve problems as they arise.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and training.
    • Three to four years of related experience, preferably in a large hospital environment.
    • Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred.
