Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Nursing typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Nursing Faculty Paramedic & LPN Bridge to RN (ASN) Site Coord (Instr, Assist/Assoc/Full Professor)

  • Summary/Objective

    The ASN Bridge Site Coordinator, in collaboration with the program leadership, develops, implements, evaluates, and analyzes the student education experiences in the classroom, clinical, lab, and simulation settings. Collaborates with the ASN Program Coordinator to deliver and organize course content, coordinate course activities, analyze/review exams, and coordinate clinical experiences for students to meet the end-of-program student learning outcomes. Actively participates in nursing accreditation planning, maintenance, and analysis of program standards and criteria to guide program decisions. The ASN Bridge Site Coordinator advises current and potential students interested in applying to, and/or pursuing nursing on the Salem Campus.  

    Essential Job Duties

    • Promote positive learning environment for students
    • Advise students in academic pursuits
    • Maintain office hours
    • Attend and participate in course, department, and college meetings
    • Maintain expertise in nursing practice and education through professional development and/or clinical practice
    • Recruit, train, and serve as clinical expert for program adjunct nursing faculty in collaboration with program and college leadership.
    • Assist the Division Head and Program Coordinator with the academic assessment of the nursing program in Salem to maintain standards and criteria of the nursing accrediting body and the Missouri State Board of Nursing
    • Assist with student issues including creating success plans, exposures in the clinical setting, and unsuccessful students
    • Coordinate clinical placement
    • Develop course calendar for clinical, LRC, and simulation learning experiences.
    • Maintain LRC equipment and updates, order supplies, and collaborate on LRC budget
    • Participate in the selection process and coordinate new student orientation
    • Serve on committees as assigned
    • Comply with University guidelines regarding faculty duties and requirements
    • Participate in academic processions and wear academic regalia as required
    • Regularly attends University, Salem, and department driven recruiting events
    • Plan, assist, and/or attend college and department led events such as award ceremonies, focus groups, community sponsored events, community service events, etc.
    • Regular attendance and punctuality
    • Set an example of a Christian lifestyle for students, staff and faculty
    • Commitment and adherence to Southwest Baptist University’s Principles and Expectations

    Position Requirements

    Required

    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
    • Current and unencumbered RN (Registered Nurse) license in the state of Missouri
    • Current BLS through the American Heart Association
    • Minimum 1 year of teaching experience in higher education and/or education or leadership in a clinical nursing setting

    Preferred

    • Master of Science in Nursing Education
    • Three years of teaching experience in higher education
    • Willingness to pursue a doctorate degree in nursing

    Work Environment

    • Must be able to work in a typical office, virtual/seated classroom, lab, simulation, and/or clinical environment. Travel to other campuses and clinical sites required.
