Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - Philosophy provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Philosophy typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks.     The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $105,000 . The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment.     Anticipated start: July 1, 2024, with the academic year beginning in September 2024. Degree requirements must be met by June 30, 2024 for employment effective July 1, 2024.

    The Philosophy Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Philosophy. The area of specialization is Ethics of Technology. Candidates are expected to conduct research, teach, contribute significantly to undergraduate and graduate education and mentorship, provide service to the campus and to their profession, and be able to work with students, faculty and staff from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds.     Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

    Ph.D. (or equivalent foreign degree) in Philosophy and demonstrated record of research and university teaching. It is expected that the degree requirement will be completed by June 30, 2024.
