Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Psychology typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Psychology Resident, Counseling Center and Disability Access

  • Overview of Psychology Resident

    This position actively engages with university students and their families, as well as university faculty and staff. The position offers the right candidate the opportunity to not only practice therapy but also provide outreach, interdepartmental collaboration, skills training, and the practical application of their psychological studies in a fast paced multifaceted collegiate team environment.


    Preferred experience/interest be in college counseling, supervision, interdepartmental coordination.


    Services include providing a range of mental health services including individual, and group therapy, as well as on call crisis intervention. Conduct initial diagnostic clinical interviews and refer for further diagnostic procedures or treatment programs. Maintain complete accurate and timely records of all clinical work and any other necessary documentation.


    The position begins in August and ends one year after the start date. PNW Counseling Center is flexible with start date given ending of clinical internship commitment.


    Pay:

    • $50,000

    Direct Services of Psychology Resident

    • Provide appropriate clinical care, including intake evaluations and crisis intervention with the scope of practice delineated by the primary clinical supervisor and training coordinator for a caseload of individual and/or group clients in the Counseling Center
    • Provide individual and group supervision to doctoral-level trainees, including leading didactic seminars in the Counseling Center
    • Administer assessments to students through the Counseling Center
    • Provide specialized clinical training (clinical assessment, consultation) and (treatment modes) in developmental disabilities (brief, time-limited individual, supportive group therapy) (process and psycho-education) to university students presenting with a broad range of developmental issues and clinical symptoms through the Disability Access Center
    • Implement and support students' legally mandated accommodations and provide intervention techniques required for individual students with disabilities through the Disability Access Center
    • Create and deliver supportive programming for students with disabilities as needed through the Disability Access Center
    • Conduct outreaches, class presentations, and other psychoeducational programming on behalf of both the Counseling Center and Disability Access Center

    Indirect Services of Psychology Resident

    • Reports to the Disability Access Center Director for disability-related and DAC office related concerns and to the Counseling Center Director for clinical supervision; Interpret documentation of students with psychological and other disabilities provided by competent authorities including psychiatrist, psychologist, or other appropriate professionals to determine eligibility in the Disability Access Center
    • Provide consultation and outreach/educational programming to the university community within the range of activity delineated by the primary supervisor, training coordinator, and outreach coordinator
    • Monitor academic progress and provide academic support, disability-management counseling, disability advocacy and other supplemental support services to ensure student retention, improve student success, and graduation rates
    • Participate in activities to build relations between the Counseling Center, Disability Access Center, and the campus at large
    • Maintain timely electronic clinical records in accordance with legal and ethical standards
    • Maintain appropriate ethical boundaries between the roles in the Counseling Center and Disability Access Center
    • Participate in clinical staff meetings and committee work as needed
    • Participate in weekly supervision in accordance with licensure laws and regulations of Indiana Psychology Board and Indiana IPLA
    • As a part of the job responsibilities associated with this position, knowledge of rules and regulations set forth by the NCAA and conference should be maintained, reviewed and practiced to ensure compliance relative to those applicable duties

    Education of Psychology Resident

    • Completed Ph.D./Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA Accredited institution.

    Experience of Psychology Resident

    • 4-5 years of doctoral education and clinical practicum with successful completion of 1 year FT clinical internship. Preference to university/college counseling center training for clinical therapy practicum and/or internship.

    Core Competencies of Psychology Resident
