Assoc. Professor - Social Work teaches courses in the discipline area of social work. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - Social Work provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Social Work typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Requirements include a Master’s degree in Social Work and current license as a Clinical Social Worker with a minimum of 2 years experience in a geriatric setting. Interviewing skills, assessment expertise and a focus on developing and attaining short-term treatment goals for depression, anxiety and issues surrounding grief and loss are essential. Strong collaboration with the medical team and families is also key to success. Medicare billing experience is a plus.
