Overview
We are partnering with a nationally recognized, award-winning healthcare organization to find a dedicated Emergency Department Director to lead their emergency services team. Key Responsibilities
- Lead nursing teams in policy development and align departmental objectives with organizational goals.
- Ensure the Emergency Services department meets high care standards and adheres to all regulatory requirements.
- Supervise, guide, and evaluate staff performance while fostering professional growth.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to streamline patient care and enhance service integration.
- Manage recruitment, selection, and retention to build a top-tier, motivated team.
- Oversee staffing levels, scheduling, and credentialing for smooth operations.
- Administer and monitor the Emergency Department budget.
- Foster a learning culture that encourages staff development and supports student training programs.
- Ensure compliance with trauma designation requirements and oversee the trauma program.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives and support evaluative research involving nursing staff.
- Maintain compliance with standards set by the Joint Commission, CMS, and other governing bodies.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong communication and leadership skills to engage patients, team members, and stakeholders.
- Extensive knowledge of emergency nursing practices and pre-hospital care standards.
- Proven track record of leading diverse, high-performing teams.
- Effective public speaking, training, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis and Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure in fast-paced, high-stress environments.
Educational & Professional Requirements
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field (ADN considered with significant experience and active enrollment in a BSN program).
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience:
- 3–5 years of clinical experience in emergency care.
- At least 1–2 years of leadership experience.
- Certifications:
- Active RN license in Iowa or a compact state.
- Current BLS certification.
- ACLS and PALS certifications (required within 6 months of hire).
- TNCC certification (required within 1 year of hire).
