Professor - Special Education provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Special Education typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks.     Basic Function:   To provide instructional, supervisory and direct leadership in a variety of BOCES programs.

    Responsibilities:

    1. To ensure that programs and services are implemented in a quality manner by assigned personnel pursuant to the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education.
    2. Work with multiple districts, multiple stakeholders and families.
    3. Lead and support curriculum development, pedagogy, and application of quality instructional practices.
    4. Communicate and promote expectations for high-level performance to staff and students.
    5. Lead and support teachers, staff, students, and families of the school community.
    6. Foster collegiality and team building among staff members.
    7. Collect, report and analyze school level data for instructional improvement and accountability purposes.
    8. Provide for two-way communication with Director of Special Education, staff, students, parents and community.
    9. Recognize excellence and achievement.



    The selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001.
