Assoc. Professor - Special Education teaches courses in the discipline area of special education. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - Special Education provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Special Education typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. The successful applicant will join a faculty team of nationally recognized, community-engaged researchers in a Special Education Department that offers a highly collegial work environment with multiple opportunities for coordinative leadership advancement in both the Sensory Impairment program areas and the Special Education department.
In line with TTU’s strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.
Specific required qualifications are:- An earned doctorate in Special Education or a closely related field by August 2024
- Certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH).
- EC-12 teaching experience in DHH.
- Evidence of an emerging research agenda in DHH.
- Commitment to high standards in teaching and evaluation.
- Commitment to collaborating with program faculty to meet program needs.
- Ability to contribute to a positive work environment in the Department, College, and University.
- A demonstrated and ongoing commitment to serving diverse student populations.
