    Position Purpose

    The Associate Director of Admissions, New York oversees a broad range of business, operational, and administrative support for the graduate programs at Sotheby’s Institute of Art in New York, with a primary focus on the New York Master’s degree application process. Additional support may be provided to other BrandEd schools — The School of The New York Times, Conde Nast College, and City Football Leadership — as necessary. The position is responsible for managing all phases of the lifecycle of an applicant from inquiry to enrollment. The Associate Director will bring a progressive and proactive approach to the prospect journey with the goal of providing the best possible experience for students and outcomes for the Institute. The position will manage a New York-based admissions staff member, ensuring quality and processes are maintained in the admissions and enrollment area. This position reports to the Global Head of Admissions, Degree Programs. 

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Specific duties and responsibilities include the following, but the individual will also be expected to perform all the duties necessary which are customarily performed by a person holding this position. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Oversees the efficient processing of all applications for admission to the Master’s degree programs and supervises an Admissions staff member; ensure a holistic, global approach is being maintained across an international prospect pool and global campuses.
    • Responsible for processing and first level screening of applications across the full portfolio of Master’s programs, with primary focus on New York applicants.
    • Support the planning, organizing, and delivery of all on and off campus recruitment events such as open days, information session, taster days, and represent the Institute at student recruitment events in the US and abroad.
    • Co-coordinate outreach strategies with Head of Admissions, including oversight of the communication plan to address domestic and international inquiries and advise prospective students with admissions processes and visa concerns.
    • Provide regular analysis and reports to senior management.
    • Manage the scholarship process for New York applicants, including the evaluation of scholarship applications, allocation of funds, and the monitoring of associated budgets.
    • Work with Immigration Services team and Student Services to ensure Institute compliance in regard to international students and visas, admissions standards and accreditation, Office for Students registration, and other regulatory obligations.
    • Liaise with faculty and administrative leadership to ensure smooth operation of admissions processes and work collaboratively to identify and implement improvements to enhance the applicant experience and efficiency of operation.
    • Work closely with marketing department and academic staff to develop, implement and evaluate recruitment and conversion plans which maximize outcomes from inquiry to application; application to offer; offer to acceptance; and acceptance to enrollment.
    • Research and suggest innovative new initiatives to move prospective students through the discovery and application process.
    • Plan and manage the coordination of all campus enrollment day activities.

    • Bachelor’s degree required with 3-5 years of experience in admissions or recruitment
    • Experience with automated database systems, including a CRM (Salesforce, preferable) and Student Information System
    • Exceptional written, oral, and organizational skills
    • Excellent presentation skills
    • Ability to collaborate and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external contacts
    • Highly self-motivated, results-oriented, and data-driven
    • Familiarity with international student recruitment and visa compliance
    • Be willing to travel throughout the US, UK, and other countries to participate in recruitment efforts as required
    • Demonstrate professionalism and diplomacy in interpersonal relationships
    • Support and embrace diversity and inclusivity
    • Regular weekday (Monday-Friday) attendance/availability is required during core business hours
    • Ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary

    Education, Work Experience and/or Licensure

    · Educated to degree level

    · Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in admissions for higher or further education
