Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of Arts and Sciences. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Michigan State University (MSU) Libraries invites applications for the position of Communication and Media Studies Librarian. Reporting to the Social Sciences Coordinator, this librarian will be responsible for serving as liaison to students, faculty, and staff within the College of Communication Arts and Sciences, a premier unit consistently ranked among national leaders. Core liaison units for this position will include the School of Journalism, the Department of Communication, and the Department of Media and Information. The successful candidate will cultivate partnerships in teaching, learning, research, and outreach with their liaison areas.
Duties include but are not limited to:
MSU Librarians may have a quarter-time secondary assignment (position dependent) based on the needs of the library and candidate interests. Some evening and weekend hours may be required.

In support of these initiatives, the Libraries serve as a center of activity and engagement on campus, with librarians empowered to support both student development and transformative research activities.
