Dean of Continuing Education - Washington, D.C.
Our client, a comprehensive university located in the nation’s capital, is seeking a full-time Dean of Continuing Education to lead and expand its Continuing Education division. This role involves leading the development of established programs targeted at educators and school leaders, and introducing new programs in Healthcare, Business, Information Technology, and Media. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing initiatives across various learning modalities including virtual synchronous, asynchronous, hybrid, and face-to-face.
Reporting Relationship: The Dean of Continuing Education reports directly to the Provost and will be integral in managing the planning, design, and delivery of the programs and courses within the Continuing Education division. This position also involves collaboration with community partners to align with corporate and workforce development needs in key industries within the Washington region. Operational oversight of the division is a key responsibility, ensuring integrity in program delivery and meeting student needs. Please note, this role requires regular on-site attendance as it involves significant teamwork, collaboration, and personal interaction that cannot be conducted remotely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead strategic planning, design, development, and delivery of courses and programs.
- Foster relationships with industry partners to conduct needs assessments, market scans, and develop customized training solutions.
- Manage daily operations including course planning, scheduling, registration processes, and tuition payment systems.
- Recruit, supervise, and evaluate faculty, oversee curriculum design, maintain academic integrity, and manage educational data integrity.
- Address operational issues and adapt to emerging duties or expansion needs within the division.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Master’s degree in Educational Administration, Business, Leadership, or a closely related field.
- At least three years of full-time experience in a Continuing Education unit, with a preference for candidates with entrepreneurial experience in program development.
- Proficiency in LMS (e.g., Moodle), educational tools, technologies, data analysis, and database management systems (e.g., Power Campus, Tableau).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to use data and trend analysis to inform programming decisions.
- Experience in supervising professional staff and aligning with the educational mission and values focused on equity, justice, and workforce development.
