Associate Dean of Engineering assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of engineering. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Engineering provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Engineering typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Engineering typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. The Opportunity: The department of Aerospace Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona invites applicants for Assistant and Associate Professor positions with start dates of January or August 2023. The department is especially interested in candidates with backgrounds and experience in spacecraft systems and design, but experience in all areas of astronautical engineering will be considered. The department seeks candidates with strong interests in engineering education, a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, an ability to perform research, and dedication to service and collegiality. The Department of Aerospace Engineering is the largest within the College of Engineering with 18 full-time faculty and over 800 undergraduate students. The department offers an ABET accredited bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering with concentrations in aeronautics and astronautics. The Aerospace Engineering program has repeatedly been ranked number 1 by U.S. News & World Report in the category of Best Undergraduate Aerospace / Aeronautical / astronautical Engineering Programs at schools where a doctorate is not offered. The College of Engineering (COE) is focused on undergraduate teaching excellence and has a strong emphasis on design and project-based learning. COE Faculty are housed in a modern academic complex, which is adjacent to robotics, mechatronics, propulsion, electrical and wind tunnel laboratories. The COE faculty also make extensive use of the Aerospace Experimentation and Fabrication laboratory complex. This building consists of a Fabrication Suite, Space Systems Lab, Structural Dynamics Lab, Materials Science Lab, Mechanical Testing lab, Structure Lab, and dedicated faculty search labs. All of these labs feature state-of-the-art equipment for undergraduate student use. A 52,000 Square foot STEM building was recently completed to house new robotics and thermal-energy labs as well as our Rapid Prototyping Lab. The King Engineering Center contains labs for Computer, Electrical, and Software Engineering.
