Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit: The School of Social Work, located in the College of Humanities and Social (CHSS) at Fayetteville State University, prepares students to become competent social work professionals at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The primary goals of the School of Social Work are to promote lifelong learning and to enhance the well-being of individuals, children and families residing in rural, urban, and military communities throughout North Carolina the nation and the world. Primary Purpose of the Position: The Associate Dean is a visionary leader who is the School of Social Work's chief academic officer for both internal and external affairs. As such, the Associate Dean works collaboratively with the School's faculty, staff, students, as well as, university administration, alumni, donors, and community partners. The Associate Dean, in collaboration with the Dean for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, administration, and faculty, provide strategic leadership to foster, promote, broaden, and maintain the academic excellence of the BSW,MSW, and Certificate programs. Duties and Responsibilities: The Associate Dean reports to the Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and he/she is a member of the CHSS leadership team. Under the general direction of the Dean of CHSS, the Associate Dean is responsible for the entire scope of planning, operations, and resource management for the School to ensure the smooth execution of the School's administrative, instructional, service, and research functions. The duties of the Associate Dean are instructional and administrative. Duties and responsibilities of the Associate Dean will include leadership with respect to personnel, budgets, and administration.
