Associate Dean of Humanities assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of humanities. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Humanities provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Humanities typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Humanities typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. HudsonWay Immersion School in Stirling, NJ is seeking a middle school humanities teacher to join our team of passionate educators. The model candidate will have a background in teaching social studies, English, or related subjects, along with a strong commitment to fostering critical and analytical thinking skills. The ideal candidate will showcase a proven ability to incorporate student-centered, skill-oriented approaches in their teaching practices, developing global leaders of the future.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Develop and instruct social studies curriculum for 5th and 6th grade students
● Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs of students by differentiating instruction for children of different linguistic, cultural and academic backgrounds, as well as for children with different learning styles, needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
● Coordinate What I Need (WIN) time to support students needing extra support in 5th and 6th grades
● Coordinates middle school activities (student council, programs, etc) for school
● Acts as student advisor for middle school students, supporting their social, emotional and academic needs
● Supports Social Studies scope and sequence for the K-6 students
● Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
● Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
● Supports HWIS school initiatives
● Must have an understanding and commitment to the vision of the language immersion model.
● Candidates must possess an excellent command of English in order to maintain high academic standards.
Qualifications (skills and experience):
● Experience as a middle school teacher preferred
● Experience or certification as a social studies, English Language Arts Teacher, or
teacher of students with disabilities
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively
communicate with internal and external customers
● Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion
● Strong organizational and classroom management skills
● Must have a positive attitude and be a team player
Physical Requirements:
● Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with all federal, state and local regulations including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
● Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, and to walk bend stand, etc. moving through school property; go to bank to make deposits
● Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.No Relocation available. Need local candidate.
