Associate Dean of Law assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of law. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Law provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Law typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Law typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be an Associate Dean of Law typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and analysis on various legal issues
- Assist attorney in preparing for hearings, trials, and depositions
- Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs
- Review and analyze documents for case preparation
- Organize and maintain case files and documents
- Attend court proceedings and take notes as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Law or related field
- Previous experience as a Law Clerk is preferred but not required
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in legal research platforms such as Westlaw and Lexis-Nexis
- Familiarity with document review and management software
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
