Associate Dean of Law assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of law. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Law provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Law typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Law typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Job description
We are currently seeking a Family Law Attorney with 2-5 years of practice in Family Law (California) and Civil Litigation to join us on a contract basis in California and/or preferably San Diego County. As an associate attorney, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team and gain valuable hands-on experience including court appearance in the intricacies of family law practice.
Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in drafting court forms, motions, declarations in support of Request for Order, discovery propounding and responses.
- Work involves drafting complaints, propounding and responding to discovery, attendance at depositions and hearings.
- Adhere to the ethical requirements outlined in the Rules of Professional Conduct of the State.
- Exhibit a strong work ethic and maintain a consistent schedule.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the State Bar (California).
- Familiarity with California court rules and San Diego local court rules.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Demonstrated commitment to professionalism and maintaining client confidentiality.
- Strong working knowledge of civil procedure and evidence.
- Experience drafting pleadings, discovery (both requests and responses), motions, settlement demands, and mediation briefs.
- Experience working with clients directly.
- Ability to independently identify issues and to litigate strategically.
- Strong legal and factual investigation skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
