Associate Dean of Medicine assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of medicine. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Medicine provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Medicine typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Medicine typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. The Associate Dean of Medical Education supports and partners with the Vice Dean of Academic Affairs (Vice Dean) in the oversight and administration of the undergraduate medical education program at the School of Medicine (SOM). The Associate Dean partners with the Vice Dean and others at the SOM to develop and implement innovative programs within the curriculum that move the SOM towards its vision and goals. The Associate Dean¿ primary area of responsibility is the Clinical Skills longitudinal program, and is responsible for curriculum management and oversight of program implementation, outcomes assessment, use of appropriate pedagogies, and faculty development. Additionally, the Associate Dean is responsible for oversight of integration of Clinical Skills with other curricular phases as well as overall longitudinal integration throughout the curriculum. The Associate Dean also conducts special projects as assigned by the Vice Dean or Dean of the SOM.
