Associate Dean of Nursing assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of nursing. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Nursing provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Nursing typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Nursing manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities:
The Associate Dean reports directly to the Dean of the Nursing Department and is responsible for the overall development and operation of the educational programs in the Nursing Department, personnel management, faculty recruitment, and day-to-day affairs of the Nursing Department. The Associate Dean coordinates activities with the Dean to achieve the education and community service missions of the School, as well as overseeing and evaluating the Nursing Department academic programs.
