The University of Northern Iowa's College of Education seeks internal applications for the Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Research position. Reporting to the Dean of the College and working with department heads, program coordinators, and faculty and staff, the Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Research will provide support to the 10 graduate program coordinators across the College by maintaining the emerging COE Graduate Studies infrastructure, including the refinement of a graduate enrollment plan for COE. Serving as liaison between the COE Dean's Office and graduate programs and UNI's College of Graduate, Research and and Online Education (GRO), the Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Research will oversee COE's research centers, collaborate on operational efficiencies, seek external funding opportunities, and facilitate academic program reviews and represent the College in the absence of the Dean, as well as other duties as assigned. The faculty member in this role will be expected to teach at least one course per year. The Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Research will be a member of the COE Executive Leadership and the COE Leadership Team.
Graduate Studies: Serves as liaison between the COE Dean's Office and graduate programs and UNI's College of Graduate, Research and and Online Education (GRO); serves as a resource and provide support to the 10 graduate program coordinators across the College by maintaining the emerging COE Graduate Studies infrastructure, including the refinement and enactment of a graduate enrollment plan for COE; and administers all scholarships and assistantships for graduate and EdD programs in the COE.
EdD Program: Provides continuity of leadership to all EdD students in currently enrolled (Fall 2020 cohort and Fall 2022 cohort); serves as COE's delegate to the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED); and supports, fosters and grows UNI's Holmes Scholar program.
Research & Scholarship: Provides oversight of the COE's centers and collaborate with the Center Directors on operational, internal work while working toward more common practices, identity, and opportunities for external funding; represents the COE on the Centers Review Committee through Research and Sponsored Programs; facilitates the Academic Program Reviews (APRs) and Student Outcomes Assessment (SOAs) for the COE; and elevates faculty scholarship and external funding by building an infrastructure of support, workshops, or other incentive opportunities.
COE Leadership: Co-facilitates COE strategic planning and reorganization processes in maintaining smooth, efficient, and effective operations in the College; meets regularly with the associate dean team in COE as well as play an active role in COE Leadership meetings; and represents the Dean at university meetings and events or takes on the responsibilities of the Dean in her absence, and other duties as assigned by the Dean.

Required qualifications include demonstrated evidence of strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills; organizational, prioritization, and time management skills; and ability to work as part of a leadership team and use discretion regarding student academic affairs and support services.
