Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of an undergraduate program. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     The Associate Dean of the Nursing Programs is a role model who provides academic, administrative, and leadership to faculty, staff, and students at Denver College of Nursing (DCN). This position reports to the Dean of Nursing Education Programs. This position is responsible for:

    1) Planning a. Strategic b. Financial c. Creative ways to resolve student issues d. Participate in the development of the Nursing Skills and Simulation Lab schedules

    2) Organizing a. Management role with students and faculty members b. Change management i. Provide leadership in developing creative solutions to student issues

    3) Directing a. Team building b. Leadership c. Public relations

    4) Evaluating a. Student outcomes assessment and analysis b. Faculty performance c. Programmatic Accreditation d. Quality improvement

    Responsibilities

    Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

    1) Provides visionary leadership for the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum;

    2) Creates an environment conducive to learning;

    3) Develops and maintains a professional relationship with the community and DCN administration.

    4) Provides coordination of effort and communication to the President, Dean of Nursing Education Programs, Coordinators, and other Directors at the College;

    5) Represents the Nursing Programs in external nursing agency meetings;

    6) Promotes consistent communication with students and faculty:

    7) Participates in the DCN Executive Committee;

    8) Participates in Nursing Committee meetings with agenda and minutes documented; a. Admissions Committee b. Conduct Committee c. Curriculum Committee d. Faculty Committee e. Resource Committee f. Outcomes and Assessment Committee g. Scholastic Standards Committee h. Academic Senate

    9) Functions effectively as a team member on special College projects;

    10) Conducts ongoing assessment of student outcomes by class visitation, conferencing, and feedback to students; a. Provides ongoing documentation for student related issues;

    11) Encourages student participation in professional activities and research/evidence based practice opportunities;

    12) Serves as a role model in professionalism, interpersonal relationships, scholarly activities and exemplary teaching;

    13) Provides correspondence related to the programs and maintains complete records on students;

    14) Follows the Chain of Command in resolving student or faculty disputes;

    15) Assures that accreditation and institutional standards are met or exceeded;

    16) Participates in the selection and retention of students;

    17) Role models a positive, professional relationship with EA administrators, faculty, staff, colleagues, students and the public;

    18) Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Nursing Education Programs or President.

    Qualifications

    1) Doctorate in Nursing is preferred or Masters Degree with plan for doctoral work;

    2) Must hold BSN and MSN;

    3) Must hold a current unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado or a compact state;

    4) Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in clinical nursing practice, education and management;

    5) Commitment to lifelong learning;

    6) Active role in profession.

    Classification

    The Associate Dean of Nursing Programs is an exempt, full-time position. Work hours may vary daily, and some weekend hours may be required.

    Physical and Mental Requirements

    The Associate Dean of Nursing Programs must be able to us a personal computer and other office equipment and be able to work in an environment that can be fast-paced and stressful at times. This position requires physical mobility throughout the facility. To perform the essential competencies and responsibilities of the position, the Associate Dean may also be required to: sit, bend, kneel, reach, stand for long periods, walk, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate computers and/or audiovisual equipment. The Associate Dean may also occasionally be required to life, push, pull, carry, or support patients or materials up to 50 pounds in weight.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $115,000.00 - $117,000.00 per year
