Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of an undergraduate program. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • The National Rural Water Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to training, supporting, and promoting the water and wastewater professionals that serve small and rural communities across the country. NRWA provides training and technical assistance to all 50 states through its State Rural Water Associations which currently have over 31,000 utility system members. Rural Water training and technical assistance covers every aspect of operating, managing, and financing water and wastewater utilities.

    NRWA seeks a dynamic, organized, and motivated individual to join our Federal Programs team as a Program Assistant. The Program Assistant will work directly with Program Managers to provide direct and tangible support to several national and regional federally funded technical assistance programs aimed at strengthening rural communities.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Provide direct administrative support to the Program Manager(s), including creating correspondence, reports, documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
    • Provide database and record-keeping support, including maintaining State Associations and programmatic documentation.
    • Work with and communicate with State Association staff – both field and office – to provide program-related assistance.
    • Utilizing industry-standard software (Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Power BI, Access, and others). Perform complex word processing tasks such as merging and sorting, integrating text with graphics, spreadsheet, and database files, uploading and downloading, and creating footnotes and outlines.
    • Ensure the timeliness of all internal and external data submissions and reporting.
    • Travel to NRWA annual events and others as needed.

    Qualifications and Skills

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—from assisting the Program Manager with in-person presentations in front of a large crowd to emails with funding agencies and everything in between.
    • Proven proofreading prowess. The Program Assistant must have a keen eye for identifying and correcting grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors.
    • Excellent data wrangling skills (The ability to sift through incredible amounts of data to spot trends that could affect the outcome of the program)
    • Fluent in technology and various creative and productivity software platforms – Microsoft Office Suite, ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, Power BI, Access, etc.
    • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An Associate or Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required with sufficient experience and demonstrable knowledge, skills, and abilities.
    • The ability to work well with others and contribute to a positive work atmosphere.
    • Ability to multi-task, change assignments as needed, and prioritize workload.

    Benefits and Compensation

    • This position has a salary range of $50,000-$55,000.
