    Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid the Associate/Assistant Director manages and administers financial aid programs for students, including staff and resource management, reports and program reviews, compliance with College and funding agency requirements, and student financial aid applications and counseling.


    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities include:

    • Oversee the supervision of staff which includes work allocation, training, problem resolution; and performance evaluations; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
    • Oversee all facets of the daily operations of the organizational unit, ensuring compliance with the College, state and federal laws, policies, and regulations.
    • Collaborate with other offices, such as bursar, registrar, internal auditor on customer service, student eligibility, and audit requirements.
    • Coordinate and implement disbursement of aid to student accounts; reconcile federal, state, and institutional financial aid funds.
    • Assist in developing and coordinating training in the technical aspects of the administration of student financial aid programs; develop and provide regular reports on program status.
    • Review, award and verify graduate student aid eligibility; recommend changes to award policy, procedure and funding.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree required in related field (Master's preferred).

    • Minimum of five to eight years of comprehensive experience in higher education financial aid with employee and program supervisory and administration duties; or the equivalent in combined education and experience. This includes employee hiring, disciplinary action, and conduct employee performance evaluations.
    • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience.
    • Must have experience and ability to train others to implement disbursement of aid to student accounts; budgeting, budget projections, and fund reconciliation of federal, state, and institutional financial aid funds; aware and understanding of awarding specialized (capped) programs, review and process R2T4s, reporting unofficial withdrawals and monitor satisfactory academic progress.
    • Extensive experience with current technologies in programs and financial aid processing; Powerfaids (financial aid software), Jenzabar CX and Banner (institution enterprise system), federal and state and loan processing web sites.
    • Strong knowledge of enrollment management principals and financial of need analysis and federal/state financial aid programs; ability to read, comprehend and follow all policies, regulations and laws as they relate to financial aid. Ability to research federal and state regulation and guidance.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work with diverse constituencies from varied social, educational and economic backgrounds.
    • Outgoing, confident personality with a professional demeanor and strong communication and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to meet goals with little supervision and guidance.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills with consistent follow-up.
    • Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
