  • POSITION PURPOSE

    The Financial Wellness Director plays a crucial role in Fortera’s mission to passionately advocate for the well-being of those we serve. In this position, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive financial wellness program aimed at improving the financial health of our members, team members and communities. This strategic role will create and oversee initiatives that empower individuals to make informed financial decisions, reduce financial stress and enhance overall financial resilience.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES


    Program Development


    • Design and develop a holistic financial wellness program customized to different demographics and target groups.
    • Collaborate with internal and external partners to create and deliver engaging, valuable and information content.
    • Collaborate with Human Resources and other departments, as well as external partners to integrate financial wellness into overall employee well-being initiatives.

    Workshops and Seminars


    • Plan and organize workshops, seminars, webinars and classroom instruction on various financial topics including budgeting, saving, investing and credit management
    • Utilize various mediums, including in-person sessions, webinars and online resources to reach a broad audience.

    Member Engagement


    • Coordinate member financial check-up reports/sessions and one-on-one consultations to assist members in setting financial goals, creating budgets and developing action plans to strengthen their financial fitness.
    • Foster a culture of financial responsibility by actively engaging with members and helping them achieve their financial goals.

    Team Member Engagement


    • Coordinate team member financial check-up reports/sessions and one-on-one consultations to assist members in setting financial goals, creating budgets and developing action plans to improve their financial fitness.

    Resource Management


    • Partner with the Marketing Department to manage and update financial literacy resources, including printed, digital, social media and other materials.
    • Curate and maintain a library of financial education resources, tools and materials.
    • Keep abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure the information provided is accurate and current.

    Collaboration


    • Establish and maintain effective communication and coordination with Credit Union personnel and with management.
    • Collaborate with local schools, community organizations, experts and businesses to expand support networks and reach of financial literacy programs.
    • Build partnerships with external agencies, vendors and financial education providers to build content and enhance program offerings.

    Evaluation and Metrics


    • Establish key performance indicators and metrics to measure the success and impact of financial wellness initiatives.
    • Collect and analyze supporting data.
    • Regularly evaluate program effectiveness and adjust strategies based on feedback and outcomes.

    Marketing and Promotion


    • Develop marketing strategies to promote financial literacy programs within the credit union and the broader community.
    • Expand brand recognition through promotional efforts, events and partnerships to maximize impact on the communities we serve.
    • Utilize diverse media channels to raise awareness and encourage participation.
    • Support Marketing initiatives as requested and aligned with strategic goals.

    Compliance and Reporting


    • Ensure that all financial literacy programs comply with relevant regulations, policies, guidelines and legal requirements.
    • Prepare regular reports for management, highlighting program roadmaps and outcomes, participant feedback, and areas of improvement needed.

    Related Duties as Required or Assigned


    • Ability to periodically work nights or weekends as needed to support related events.
    • Stay informed regarding changes in lending standards, related legal requirements, and compliance trends.
    • Ensure that any shared/temporary work area or Credit Union property, including any assigned equipment (such as a laptop), is safely maintained and secured.
    • Employ adequate safeguards to ensure the security of member information in the employee’s possession. Must do the same for information pertaining to any leads or prospective clients as well.
    • Must have access to personal transportation covered by adequate, current insurance and a valid driver’s license.
    • Must accomplish all essential tasks having regular work hours scheduled. Considerable flexibility is considered regarding overtime, in addition to expectations of a high degree of individual motivation and responsibility.
    • Satisfactorily completes all required compliance training and complies with all regulations that apply within the scope of the position, including Bank Secrecy Act compliance.
    • Participates in community and civic events to promote awareness of the Credit Union.
    • Ensures work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS


    • Provides valuable curriculum and resources that successfully execute financial literacy strategies and instructional delivery methods.
    • Excellent business relations exist with members, team members, partners, and business professionals.
    • Develops successful partnerships with business owners, community agencies, school systems, and college student programs to promote financial literacy initiatives/programs and provide training workshops.
    • Effectively collaborates with vendors and the Marketing team to develop communication and information strategies for the Financial Wellness Program. Coordinates and maintains the scheduling of all Financial Literacy Events.
    • Supports the Learning and Development Team with assigned tasks and class instruction as needed.
    • Positive working relations exist with Credit Union personnel and with management. Assistance is provided as needed. Management is appropriately informed.

    QUALIFICATIONS


    EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Education, or related field

    • Proven experience and knowledge in financial education and counseling.
    • Strong knowledge of financial products, budgeting, credit management, problem-solving and investment principles.
    • Knowledge of industry-standard products, procedures, and processing.
    • Knowledge and understanding of applicable federal regulations.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:


    • Three to five years of demonstrated experience in developing and executing financial education strategies, content, and instruction.
