    Motlow State is located in the beautiful rolling hills of middle Tennessee and has four campuses that serve students from eleven counties.

    General Function:

    Administer and oversee all aspects of the financial aid process.
    Provides leadership, administration, management, assessment, and continuous improvement of comprehensive student financial aid including federal, state, local, and institutional programs.
    Oversees functions including but not limited to student verification, fund awarding, account reconciliation, financial aid appeals, professional judgements, goal setting, policy/procedure development, and compliance monitoring.

    Minimum

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university in Business or related field and a minimum of seven (7) years financial aid operation and administrative experience in a college/university setting.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Master's degree from a regionally accredited college/university in Business, Higher Education or related field and a minimum of five (5) years financial aid operation and administrative experience in a college/university setting and four (4) years' direct experience supervising others and expert proficiency holding staff accountable for high performance and engagement by articulating expectations, monitoring performance, and providing consistent, constructive feedback.

    Major Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide leadership, direction, guidance, oversight, unit budget management, strategic planning, and policy formation for financial aid unit; Recruit, train, and support other members of the financial Aid team; Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, TBR, SACSCOC, MSCC, THEC, or other applicable agencies statutes, rules, or policies.
      Provide weekly and monthly financial aid metrics data.
    • Act as liaison between the college, students, parents, faculty, and community to promote and increase student enrollment and retention.
    Coordinate outreach activities and at times make presentations.
    Visits high schools for financial aid workshops, college nights, and other programs.

    • Prepare and complete required reports and applications for federal, state, and local funds and grants.
    • Responsible for the supervision of daily operations related to financial aid and Banner database to include packaging disbursements, award notifications, reports, accurate and timely loading of all student financial aid data into the ERP system.
    • Analyzes optimal service levels and makes real time resource adjustments to provide a high level of service for all financial aid functions.
    • Determines student eligibility for financial aid by exercising professional judgment to determine student's consideration of eligibility due to hardship.
    • Develop process and techniques to enhance the operational efficiency of departmental functions, to include collaboration with the Admission, Registrar, Student Life and Business Office departmental areas of the College.
    Determine training requirements to effectively administer the student finance advising function.
    • Monitors and directs revisions to financial aid awards based on changes in enrollment, professional judgments, and receipt of additional aid.
    Addresses potential over awards, monitors student enrollment status.
    • Maintain an understanding of college, federal and state computer programs, software and their application to the management of financial aid and processes.
    Maintains current knowledge of federal, state, and institutional requirements regarding financial aid.
    • Counsel's students concerning financial aid, including but not limited to: applying to federal and state programs, applying for Motlow scholarships, work programs, and satisfactory academic progress.
    Assists students and parents in person, by letter and telephone or reception area on procedures to obtain grants, loans, scholarships, work programs, etc.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Maintains current knowledge of financial aid regulations and advances in the field through participation in professional development activities at the state and local levels.
    • Knowledge of confidentiality statutes and policies as they apply to FERPA and financial aid programs
    • Strong computer skills, including but not limited to ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system(s) (Banner), word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, database, and internet
    • Ability to conduct research, develop professional documents and make presentations to diverse stakeholders including groups of staff, parents and students
    • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to work collegially and collaboratively with a team, and ability to react and adjust quickly to changing conditions.
    • Excellent management, organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, accurately and appropriately in both verbal and written communications.
    • Ability to commute to all Motlow State Community College locations within our service area as scheduled and other locations as necessary.
    • Proven customer service experience involving financial aid
