Essential Duties
- Assists Executive Director of Enrollment Management in long-range planning and personnel issues.
- Assists in the development of data-informed recruitment strategies to strengthen the University’s market position.
- Plans and develops recruitment activities to promote the University.
- Works with Enrollment Management staff and the Office of University Relations to develop marketing information necessary for recruitment.
- Plans and develops Alumni/Recruiting programs in coordination with the Office of Development and Alumni and the Office of Career Services.
- Works with high school and community college counselors to promote the University and admissions process.
- Works with campus constituencies to ensure that admissions counselors are providing accurate information to prospective students about academic programs and opportunities.
- Participates in and conducts student recruitment programs with other members of the faculty and staff.
- Observes, oversees and evaluates recruitment activities of recruitment staff in local and regional territories.
- Monitors progress of recruiting activities throughout the recruitment cycle.
- Hires and supervises the recruiting staff (admissions counselors, admissions & recruitment coordinator, regional recruiters).
- Plans and implements regular training of recruiting staff and student workers.
- Coordinates outreach, including educational programs, application events and scholarship presentations.
- Attends prospective student parties, counselor luncheons, and alumni chapter meetings as needed.
- Assists with purchasing, travel and payroll reconciliations for recruiting staff.
- Represents the university at college fairs and other recruiting events as needed.
- Uses the University’s prospective/admitted student database and customer relationship management systems. Works with the Executive Director of Enrollment Management and Director of Admissions to improve processes.
- Manages the recruiting travel calendar.
- Performs other reasonable duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred; seasoned professional knowledge equivalent to a master’s degree required
Experience:
- Requires three years of experience in education; experience in higher education preferred
- Requires two years of experience in admissions
- Functional knowledge of Slate, CRM and Microsoft Office Suite
- Banner experience preferred
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
Job Description Summary
The Associate Director of Recruitment provides expertise to develop, implement, and evaluate new student recruitment initiatives, including but not limited to the oversight of recruitment at high schools and college fairs and all on-campus recruitment events and activities. Reporting to the Executive Director of Enrollment Management, the Associate Director provides support for meeting enrollment goals, by working with Admissions Counselors to ensure students in Mississippi and targeted territories are given the opportunity to apply with an Admissions Counselor from the University in their high school. This position oversees staff training related to recruitment activities; represents and promotes the University to prospective students at the high school and college levels, as well as other relevant professional organizations; and coordinates with the Executive Director on the development of the recruitment communication plan, including printed recruitment materials, e-mails and call campaigns.
