Associate Laboratory Technician jobs in Tucson, AZ

SUMMARY: Perform laboratory testing of construction materials (e.g. soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt). This includes ensuring that the laboratory testing services are conducted in a safe manner and consistent with company quality protocols, project requirements, and in a timely manner. Oversee or coordinate the maintenance and cleanliness of the laboratory and testing equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Test and inspect construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt in our laboratory.

· Prepare daily reports on observation and testing activities.

· Review reports and test data for accuracy and completeness.

· Coordinates the laboratory activities to ensure that the work is executed on time and in accordance with the client and project requirements and within company policies, procedures and standards.

· Assists the department manager with overseeing calibration and maintenance of the laboratory equipment.

· Ensures the proper organization and appearance of the laboratory area for which he/she is responsible, including keeping the area and equipment clean and uncluttered.

· Perform inventory and quality assurance checks.

· Adhere to Alta Southwest company policies.

· Ability to complete in-house training.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· High School Diploma or GED required.

· Valid Arizona driver's license and acceptable driving record.

· Reliable, good organizational skills, and a strong work ethic

· Good written and verbal skills.

· Capable of working independently.

Preferred

· All field/lab level certifications (Nuclear Safety, ACI, and ATTI Lab).

· ICC and Laboratory Certifications.

· Experience sampling/testing soils and ABC from job sites and roadways.

· Advanced knowledge of soil mechanics and testing of concrete and asphalt.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

· Continually required to walk/stand/sit. 8-9 hours daily

· Frequently required to lift/push/carry items no less than 50 pounds.

· Potential work in environmental conditions such as rain, wind, snow, and extreme heat.
