Associate Medical Director supports the implementation of medical policies for the entire organization. Ensures the delivery of quality patient care. Being an Associate Medical Director researches and evaluates new treatments and medical innovations. Works collaboratively throughout the organization to ensure the adoption of standards and policies for all functional aspects of clinical services that result in patient care improvements. Additionally, Associate Medical Director requires a MD degree. Typically reports to Medical Director. The Associate Medical Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be an Associate Medical Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Position Summary: The Associate Medical Director provides direct, team-based clinical care to patients, meeting clinical standards within the appropriate scope of practice.  This person will provide leadership for providers and oversight to ensure high quality of care for patients of Community of Hope.  This position will be based out of our Conway Health & Resource Center in SW DC.  This is a full-time position.

    Highlighted Duties and Responsibilities

    • Serves as a member of on-site management team to ensure smooth flow of patients and optimize delivery of care to patients at CHRC.
    • Precepts resident, medical students, nurse practitioner students, midwifery students, and physician assistant students during their community medicine rotations as agreed upon with supervisor. 
    • Meets with supervisees regularly and provides real-time feedback, training, support, and coaching as needed.  Creates meeting agendas, sends meeting agendas in advance when possible, and documents concerns promptly as needed. 
    • Reviews the performance of team members in a timely manner, including completing 90 day and annual performance evaluations per their due dates, documenting any issues or changes, providing recommendations for professional development and/or training opportunities, and recognizing staff when appropriate.
    • Takes initiative and makes decisions within the scope of work.  Assesses situations independently, thinks critically, and takes action to address issues or make useful recommendations while maintaining a solution-oriented lens.
    • Serves as a communication liaison between providers and the health leadership team on issues relevant to patient care.  
    • Provides direct medical care to patients (virtual and in-person), following approved guidelines. 
    • Refers patients to specialists or care coordination as needed. 
    • Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records and keeping patient information confidential. 
    • Documents all patient encounters, including face to face, telephone, and electronic communications, in the medical record in a timely fashion. 
    • Uses all mandatory, structured fields as required in eCW.
    • Maintains safe, secure, and health work environment by following standards, procedures, and legal guidelines.
    • Establishes common goals with their team through communication, inspiring and leading team members, and holding team members accountable.  Links team goals and metrics to the overall strategic plan.


    Requirements

    Minimum qualifications:

    • Completion of a Family Nurse Practitioner program of study, National Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner, and at least 2 years of experience as a primary care provider
    • Physician candidates must have Medical Degree (MD/DO, Board Certified preferred) with specialization in family medicine
    • Physician candidates should have a minimum of one year of post-residency primary care experience 
    • Leadership/supervisory Experience preferred
    • Licensed to practice in the District of Columbia required. Any providers who are licensed in Maryland who provide a copy of their license and MD CDS to Talent Management are also eligible for MD licensure reimbursement.
    • Current BLS certification (ACLS or BLS for the Healthcare Provider or equivalent) required.
    • Commitment to work with underserved populations in an urban setting.
    • Ability to work in non-profit environment.
    • Bilingual in Spanish and/or Amharic a plus.
    • Able to work across clinical sites if requested.
    • Shares Saturday clinic coverage with other providers by completing at least one Saturday shift per month.
    • Able to work evening hours as needed.

    •  Demonstrated cultural competence in communicating with low-income populations required
