Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Telecommunicator to join our team. In this role, you will be the vital link between the public and emergency services, responsible for receiving and processing emergency and non-emergency calls. You will utilize various communication technologies to provide accurate information, dispatch appropriate services, and ensure the safety of individuals in need. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent typing abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional service under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Receive incoming calls for emergency and non-emergency assistance, demonstrating professionalism and empathy.
- Accurately transcribe information from callers while maintaining clear communication.
- Utilize GPS technology to assist in locating callers and dispatching services effectively.
- Analyze data from various sources to provide accurate information to first responders.
- Operate phone systems and other communication equipment efficiently.
- Maintain detailed records of all calls received, actions taken, and outcomes achieved.
- Collaborate with law enforcement, fire departments, and medical services to ensure coordinated responses.
- Stay informed about local geography.
Experience
- Previous experience in a telecommunication or emergency response role is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in data entry with a strong typing speed and accuracy.
- Familiarity with phone systems and GPS technology applications is advantageous.
- Certification in emergency telecommunications or related fields is a plus.
- Strong negotiation skills to manage difficult conversations effectively.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure while handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
